| The Marathi community in Milwaukee, and
Southeastern Wisconsin, has grown in leaps and bounds
since 1990, the year the association was formed.
It is due to this growth, that the founding members of the
Maharashtra Mandal decided to formalize activities in 1998
by electing fresh faces to take over the reins. After the growth in late nineties, Metro Milwaukee area has been home to around 100 Marathi families for last several years. A new committee is selected every two years, but any help from new volunteers for these programs is always welcome. Three main programs that are celebrated are the Gudhi Padava, Ganesh Chaturthy and Diwali. Mostly these programs are celebrated in the Auditorium of the Hindu Temple of Wisconsin located in Pewaukee. Built in 2002, it is an excellent place to come across other Indian families and also enjoy the activities such as Anand Mela arranged by the temple. |
